Robert Bosch Software Intermship openings for MS students

Job Title:Robert Bosch Software Intermship openings for MS students

Job Description:

The Robotics Team (http://robotics.boschresearch.com) of the Bosch Research and Technology Center in Palo Alto is looking for highly motivated interns with a strong penchant in solving complex and interesting problems. We are hiring software engineers with a broad set of skills who are ready to tackle some of robotics greatest challenges while making an impact on real products. You will join a team of experienced researchers driving robotics technology development and research at Bosch with the goal of creating viable solutions for growing international market needs.
Intern projects focus on a wide variety of topics, including ROS software development, perception, manipulation, remote operation, human assisted operation. Below are some examples of the diverse projects with which you might be involved:
  • Flexible web visualization system for robots using ROS. This project will push the boundaries of new web technologies such as WebGL and WebSockets in order to enable interaction with robots through a web browser (http://www.pr2-remotelab.com).
  • Embedded visual localization system for mobile robots. Affordable and robust localization is one of the key technologies for service robots. This project will explore new ways of using just a single camera and an embedded system for localization.
  •  Human-robot shared autonomy. Instead of having to design a robot that’s 100% autonomous, we are looking into ways of building one that’s 90% autonomous (which is much easier to do), and just have a human remotely take care of the other 10% when necessary. This will make robots both more capable and cheaper!
  • Generic sensor interfaces. Advanced sensing capabilities are required to enable future robotics applications. Within this project we will build a sensing platform including generic interfaces and abstraction layers for current and future sensors.
