Job Profile - ‘Java Development Tools Engineer’
Summary
The 'Java Development Support' team provides various tools to make the development process efficient and effective. The tool range spans from continuous integration (Nexus, Jenkins), documentation platform (Confluence), issue tracking system (JIRA) to version control systems (Git, SVN).
All this tools need to be upgraded periodically. Not only the lifecycle management is important but also the initial setup of new software and their integration to other existing tools. Especially this engineering requires a deep understanding of these tools and the technical environment.
We offer customer specific consulting although our tool suite is based on a highly standardized setup. But some of our customers have further needs which we analyze and, if feasible, we will implement.
There are also operational tasks to complete. We are involved in 3rd level incident resolution which requires a very deep knowhow about our components. And, some tools require a manual interaction or an initial setup of entities (e.g. new JIRA project creation). This work will be more and more automated and therefore this effort will decrease continuously.

Your duties
• Analyse the requirements based on given specifications delivered by the component responsible person
• Implement the approved and analysed requirements
• Testing. Executes test-cases based on different scenarios
• Documentation of AXA-Tech's deployment resp. configuration specifics. Write user manual
• Create and coordinate change management requests
• Tools administration and configuration setting adjustments like
o Creation of new entities (e.g. JIRA projects or Confluence spaces)
o Database changes or schema adjustments
• Customer consulting for their specific requirements
• 3rd level support (e.g. incidents regarding Git, Subversion)
Your skills
• Very good understanding of Web-Applications in general
• Very good knowhow about Web-Application deployment
• Very good Linux skills
• Very good knowledge about Apache and Tomcat
• Very good Java developer knowhow
• Good understanding in version control systems like Git, Subversion
• Basic Database knowledge
• Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) knowhow desired
• Able to act independently and with discernment
