Designation: Senior Software Engineer (Mainframe)

Qualifications

5+ years of professional software development experience, over all phases of software development lifecycle including requirements, specification, documentation, testing, release, and maintenance

Mainframe Expertise

                1.            Basics of z/OS – High level components and architecture

                                                Good working knowledge of z/OS JCL, particularly the DD card as it related to creating, sharing, etc.

                                                Knowledge of z/OS access methods (BSAM, VSAM, QSAM…. Etc.)

                                                Knowledge of z/OS data set types (PS, PDS, PDSE), Record formats and familiarity with general DCB parameters.

                                                Knowledge of zFS or HFS a +.

                                                Knowledge of Linux/Unix shell commands useful.

                                                Basic z/OS system services and “system programmer” kinds of things – Log streams, SMF, Data spaces, AMODE/RMODE concepts, Sysx.libs and a basic understanding of IPL and configuration.

                                                Basic understanding of z/OS components and concepts, WLM, ASM, RSM, VSM, JESx,  Initiators, STCs, TSO

                                                Past programming experience in C or LE/C or z/series assembler language   and the experience of building /testing/debugging on the mainframe

                2.            Emulator - TPX Basics

                3.            SCM on Mainframe – Endevor/Changeman/Panvalet

                4.            Unix System Services for z/OS – Unix commands and Shell Scripting

                5.            JCL Basics & File Access Methods – Sequential, VSAM files

                6.            REXX and/or CLIST

                7.            Product knowledge – SCM, Spufi and QMF (Db2), FileAid, FileMaster, SORT utilities, SDSF (CA Sysview)

                8.            Basics of SMP/E for installs on Mainframe (CA MSM)

                9.            Database knowledge – IBM Db2 and IMS/DB (not mandatory – good to have)

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong work ethic, flexibility, proven attention to quality and detail
