Responsibilities

• A developer to be a part of the team that develops open source enterprise-grade web and cloud solutions.
• A results-oriented, passionate individual who knows how to navigate the open source world and create bleeding edge solutions that answer our customers' day-to-day needs.

• Must have extraordinary technical abilities.
• Must feel at ease with key programming languages, technologies, paradigms, models and/or tools, and rapidly absorb new ones.
• part of several client-side and server-side software packages, many of which are inter-dependent and coded in different programming languages, including PHP, Python, Perl, Java, Ruby .net and PL/SQL. You will also be responsible, along with the rest of the team, for maintaining the project's repositories, and the release and rollout of new versions.

Required Expertise/Skills:

• Application Design, Development, and Maintenance
• Designs new applications, databases, and interfaces as requested and assigned
• Support and maintain existing applications, databases, and interfaces
• Unit test own development and ensure that bug free code is delivered to QA
• Ensures that all development work is within the open source context
• Database Development/Administration/Troubleshooting
• Design database models and implement them
• Integrate application front-ends with database back-ends
• Work with system administrators to perform database administration and troubleshooting for server databases
• Ensures that all development work is within the open source context Plug-in Development
• Develop plug-ins for open source and proprietary applications including, but not limited to, JIRA, Confluence, RedMine etc.
• Unit test own development and ensure that bug free code is delivered to QA
• Ensures that all possible development work is within the open source context Prototyping/Conceptualization/Optimization
• Responsible for the evaluation, testing, implementation, and customization of open source components, modules, and plug-ins as working proof of concepts
• Evaluate and recommend optimization possibilities for the existing tools in the centrally managed web environments
• Propose possible solutions within the open source context for the outstanding requirements

• Experience and Educational Qualifications: 

College degree and a minimum of 4+ years work experience as a web developer in open source technologies

• Solid mastery of PHP/Python/Perl (4+ years experience)
• Strong knowledge of Java and/or Ruby
• Hands on web development experience, i.e. with Ajax, CSS, HTML, REST, XML etc.
• Hands on experience on open source and/or proprietary packages like Joomla, Drupal, JIRA, Confluence, RedMine etc and working knowledge of associated extensions/plug-ins/add-ons/customizations
• Hands on experience on open source frameworks like Zend, CodeIgnitor, Rails etc.
• 5+ yrs of Linux based development, i.e. LAMP stack, use of it as main OS is a plus
• Knowledge of Linux shell scripting, and noSQL platforms is a plus
• Strong hands on  experience on SQL, both on MySQL and PostgreSQL
• Past experience with complex stored procedures (PL/SQL) is a definite plus
• Must have a passion for the user experience and user interface
• Experience on software versioning and revision control systems like Git, SVN, Mercurial etc. is a must, experience on managing and extending versioning/revision control systems a definite plus
• Understanding of cryptography concepts and mainstream libraries like RSA, AES, SSL etc. a plus
• Familiarity with open source licenses, ethos and development models
• Knowledge of unit test frameworks like CUnit, OpMock, JUnit etc. is a plus
• Knowledge of continuous integration tools like Hudson, Bamboo, Jenkins etc. is a plus
• Familiarity with Selenium is a plus
• Knowledge of Linux packaging and distribution is a plus
• Knowledge of virtual machine packaging is a plus
• Good communication skills
• Ability to handle multiple issues of varying priorities effectively
• Ability to work unsupervised and capable of meeting tight deadlines
• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
